Y'know I have just been sitting here pondering this in my mind I used to get slightly depressed after christmas in the UK because we have christmas and then take the deccys down before 12th night and thats it until easter, apart from getting a valentine or two if you are lucky but here in america you have christmas and there is none of this 12th night take down deccys stuff I have driven round here and there are still plenty of places with thier wreaths on the doors etc. not only that but they have the superbowl which is on every year at the end of Jan then there is valentines day which is a big thing over here not just the card holiday it is over there, then there is presidents day which is a nice holiday, st patricks day of course which again is a big thing in the states as to the lame excuse for a celebration in england, this is then followed by presidents day which is another public holiday all before easter in April and then Mothers day in May, then Fathers Day in June before independance day on the 4th of July that means there is something every month for most of the year rather than just one big xmas party and then a whole bundle of nothing until easter it means that you dont have time to get depressed. Its great
lets hope that the UK comes up with some better holidays soon to at least give us something else to think about other than gordon browns balls ups and the credit crunch ![]()
Have a great day everyone

I am a total traditionalist, and love Christmas, Easter, Mothers Day etc. Anything that involves food, festivities and get togethers. However, I love anything to celebrate and it is often the less formal occassions that gets you through and gives you something to look forward to, so I am all for having a little treat every few weeks xx

thats what I think we should have some sort of celebration or treat at least once a month rather than the build up to christmas and then a whole lot of nothing until easter

It's such a long, miserable slog isn't it. I try to have some little treat to look forward to every weekend throughout January and February but sometimes the weather is so stinky it is just easier to retire to the sofa with the central heating on full blast xx

But most of those days are just commercial days, aren't they? I mean, Valentine's Day, for example, is not a bank holiday, is it??
I think Christmas should be in December and not in February...

I guess I am more "traditional" in my way of thinking.
I think that we should stick to our old traditions and not just adopt new ones just to make us shop more etc. I am not at all delighted about Halloween, which is not a Swedish tradition. The shops are trying to get us to celebrate it the American way as it would make them sell more things and decorations.
lol... I am sorry if I sound negative, but I think we should all keep the old traditions the way they were instead of inventing more of them.
